1. Introduction

Current Connections ("we", "us", "the Company") respects your right to privacy and is committed to protecting your personal information in line with the Protection of Personal Information Act 4 of 2013 (POPIA) and its Regulations.

This Privacy Policy explains what personal information we collect, why we collect it, how we use, store and protect it, and the rights you have in respect of your personal information. By engaging our services, submitting an enquiry through our website, or communicating with us, you consent to the processing of your personal information as set out in this policy.

  • Communications — records of telephone, email, WhatsApp or in-person correspondence with our team.

We do not intentionally collect special personal information (such as race, religion, health or biometric information) unless it is lawfully required for a specific service you have requested.

4. How We Use Your Information

We use your personal information for the following purposes:

  • to respond to your enquiries and provide quotations for our services;

  • to comply with legal and regulatory obligations, including the requirements of the Electrical Contractors' Association and municipal authorities;
  • to contact you regarding your project or service request; and
  • to send you relevant information about our services, only where you have opted in to receive marketing communications.

We process your personal information on one or more of the following lawful bases:

  • Consent — where you have provided your information to us voluntarily, such as through a website enquiry form;
  • Contract — where processing is necessary to perform a service you have requested or to take steps prior to entering into an agreement;
  • Legal obligation — where we are required to process information to comply with the law; and
  • Legitimate interests — where processing is necessary for our legitimate business operations and does not unduly prejudice your rights.

6. Disclosure to Third Parties

We will never sell your personal information to any third party. We only share your personal information where it is necessary to provide our services or where the law requires us to do so, including:

  • with our employees and subcontractors who need the information to deliver our services to you, all of whom are bound by confidentiality obligations;

  • with suppliers, manufacturers or insurance providers where required to resolve a fault, warranty or claim on your installation;
  • with municipal authorities, certification bodies or regulators where required by law; and
  • with law enforcement, courts or government bodies where we are legally obliged to do so, or where we believe in good faith that disclosure is necessary to prevent physical harm, financial loss or suspected illegal activity.

We will only send you marketing communications about our products and services where you have expressly opted in to receive them. If you receive marketing material from us, you may opt out at any time by using the unsubscribe link in any communication, or by contacting us at info@currentconnections.co.za.

Should you provide a review or testimonial of our services, you consent to us displaying your first name and review on our website or marketing material. We will never display your surname, contact details or other personal information alongside a review without your permission.

8. How We Protect Your Information

We take appropriate technical and organisational measures to safeguard your personal information, including:

  • restricting access to personal information to authorised personnel only, on a need-to-know basis;
  • securing our systems, devices and paper records against unauthorised access, loss, alteration or disclosure;
  • ensuring all employees and third parties who handle your information are bound by confidentiality obligations; and
  • regularly reviewing our security practices to respond to changes in technology and legislation.

While we take all reasonable measures to protect your information, no method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security. Where information is transmitted to us over the internet (for example, via our website enquiry form), such transmission is at your own risk.

9. Retention of Information

We will not retain your personal information for longer than is necessary for the purposes for which it was collected, unless we are required by law to retain it for a longer period. For example, records relating to electrical compliance certificates and installations are retained in line with legal and industry requirements.

When personal information is no longer needed, we will delete, destroy or de-identify it in a secure manner.
