PAIA Manual

Manual prepared in terms of section 51 of the Promotion of Access to Information Act 2 of 2000 (PAIA), regulating access to records held by Current Connections.

1. Introduction

This Manual has been prepared in accordance with section 51 of the Promotion of Access to Information Act 2 of 2000 ("PAIA"), as amended by the Protection of Personal Information Act 4 of 2013 ("POPIA"). It sets out the categories of records held by Current Connections, the procedure for requesting access to such records, and the applicable fees.

3. Information Officer

In terms of section 55 of POPIA, the head of the Company (as defined in PAIA) is responsible for ensuring the Company complies with the conditions for lawful processing of personal information. The Information Officer has been appointed as follows:

All requests for access to records, as well as enquiries relating to the protection of personal information, should be directed to the Information Officer.

4. Records Available

Current Connections holds records in the following categories, which are available in terms of PAIA, subject to the grounds for refusal set out in section 7 of this Manual:

Operational records:

  • Company registration and governance documents;
  • Client contracts, quotations and invoices;
  • Electrical compliance certificates (COCs) and inspection records;
  • Project files, site records and installation documentation;
  • Supplier and service provider agreements;
  • Insurance policies and claims records.

Personnel records:

  • Employee contracts, leave records and payroll information;
  • Employment equity and skills development records;
  • Health and safety records.

Other records:

  • Marketing and promotional material;
  • Website content and enquiries;
  • Correspondence with clients, suppliers and regulatory bodies.

5. How to Request Access

Requests for access to records must be made on the prescribed form (Form C), and must provide sufficient detail to enable the Information Officer to identify the record requested and the requester. The request must be submitted to the Information Officer at the contact details above.

The request must be accompanied by proof of identity, and, where applicable, proof of payment of the prescribed request fee.

  1. Complete the prescribed request form (Form C);
  2. Submit the form to the Information Officer;
  3. The Information Officer will acknowledge receipt of the request;
  4. We will respond to your request within 30 (thirty) days of receipt, in accordance with PAIA;
  5. Where access is granted, the record will be provided in the format requested where reasonably possible.

6. Fees

The fees applicable to requests for access to records are prescribed by the Minister of Justice and Constitutional Development from time to time under the Regulations to PAIA. A request fee may be payable before a request is processed, and an access fee is payable for the reproduction and/or preparation of the record.

Fees are charged in accordance with the latest PAIA Regulations. Please contact the Information Officer for the current fee schedule.

7. Grounds for Refusal

Access to a record may be refused in terms of the grounds set out in Chapter 4 of Part 2 of PAIA, including (but not limited to) where the record:

  • contains personal information of a third party, unless consent has been obtained or disclosure is otherwise lawful;
  • is protected by legal professional privilege (e.g. communications with legal advisers);
  • contains confidential commercial or trade information;
  • may prejudice the security of buildings, systems or property; or
  • may prejudice the law enforcement or legal processes of any public body.

8. Remedies Available

If you are dissatisfied with the Information Officer's decision, you may, in terms of PAIA, apply to a Court for relief within 180 days of the decision, or lodge an internal appeal where applicable.

9. Updating This Manual

This Manual will be reviewed and updated on an annual basis, or whenever there are changes to the Company's records, business operations, or applicable legislation.

This PAIA Manual is effective as of August 2026.
